Only Liberal Democrats can stop Labour in Halewood
March 2000
DAVE SMITHSON CHOSEN
Local resident Dave Smithson has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Halewood East in the 4th May Knowsley Council elections.

Dave is committed to helping local people deal with local issues and has pledged to ensure the residents of Halewood East have an open and honest representative on Knowsley Council.

"It is clear from the meetings and talks I have had with residents in Halewood East that they want a Councillor to represent them who is interested in their concerns," said Dave.

"I have been amazed at some of the reports I have heard of local people not getting the support and representation they deserve and need and promise to redress that balance when I am elected."

Dave and his wife Sarah, the Lib Dem candidate for Halewood West, have lived in the area for almost seven years.

They are both delighted with the way they have been welcomed into the community and will be proud to serve the friends, neighbours and local people that have supported them in this campaign.

Halewood East Liberal Democrats have launched a petition to save our local Post Offices within the Town and surrounding area.

If the Labour Government goes ahead with its plans to have pensions paid directly into bank accounts many local Post Offices could face the threat of closure.

Dave Smithson says: "We must support our local Post Offices and back this campaign to stop Labour ruining their livelihood.

"Local Post Offices have already have already started to make their protests, we need to help them and put as much pressure as possible on the Labour Government to stop their plans!"
