Only Liberal Democrats can stop Labour in Halewood
April 2000
TARBOCK CLLR CECELIA SALEEMI CHOSEN
Tarbock Parish Councillor and resident Cllr Cecelia Saleemi has been selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Halewood South in this May's elections.

Cecelia is committed to helping local people deal with local issues and has pledged to ensure the residents of Halewood South have an open and honest representative on Knowsley Council.

"It is clear from the meetings and talks I have had with residents in Halewood South that they want a Councillor to represent them who is interested in their concerns," said Cecelia.

"I have been amazed at some of the reports I have heard of local people not getting the support and representation they deserve and need and promise to redress that balance when I am elected.

"I am particularly opposed to Labour run Knowsley Council's plans to develop areas of greenbelt in the Halewood area."

Cecelia has worked hard during the last twelve months in Tarbock since being elected to the Parish Council in May 1999 and is also Chair of Knowlsey South Liberal Democrats.

Halewood South Liberal Democrats have launched a petition to save our local Post Offices within the  surrounding area.

If the Labour Government goes ahead with its plans to have pensions paid directly into bank accounts many local Post Offices could face the threat of closure.

Cecelia Saleemi says: "We must support our local Post Offices and back this campaign to stop Labour ruining their livelihood.

"Local Post Offices have already have already started to make their protests, we need to help them and put as much pressure as possible on the Labour Government to stop their plans!"
