Join the 12,000 people
who have backed Charles Kennedy’s campaign for the elderley
Over the coming weeks Knowsley South
Lib Dems will be campaigning for personal care to be made free of charge
for elderly people in England.
This was one of the key recommendations
of a Royal Commission - set up by the current Labour government - and one
that has already been implemented in Scotland thanks to the Liberal Democrats.
“Before he became Prime Minister Tony
Blair said he didn’t want to live in a country where elderly people had
to sell their homes to pay for the cost of care in their old age, “ says
Cllr Ian Smith, Leader of Knowsley MBC Lib Dem Group. “Last year
70,000 sick and elderly people had to sell their homes to pay for the costs
of care in their old age!
“12,000 people have already signed the
petition calling for free care and we will be collecting more signatures
in the coming weeks to ensure the people of Knowsley get the same deal
as those north of the border.” |
