PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SEPTEMBER 7, 2000
KNOWSLEY SOUTH CHOOSE PPC KNOWSLEY South Liberal Democrats have selected Local Party Chair and Knowsley Borough Councillor Dave Smithson as their prospective parliamentary candidate. Dave, 41, is an Account Director with Manchester based public relations consultants JGPR, and lives in Halewood with wife Sarah. An active environmental campaigner, he currently sits on Knowsley Borough Council’s planning committee and is a strong advocate of elected regional assemblies. “I am delighted and privileged to have been chosen as the PPC for Knowsley South and am looking forward to building on the Liberal Democrat success in the constituency over recent years,” said Dave. “Labour have been a big disappointment since coming to power in 1997, failing to invest in public services with the speed and urgency required. “But a return to the Conservatives would be a complete
disaster. After our success in the local elections in May, winning
three seats on the Council, the people of Knowsley now realise there is
an alternative choice.”
