Another Year of Lib Dem success in Prescot West December 2000
LOCAL CAMPAIGNER
MIKE WYNN CHOSEN
MIKE WILL PUT PRESCOT FIRST
THE LIB DEMS CANDIDATE, MIKE WYNN,  has pledged to put the people of Prescot first when he is elected to the Borough Council on January 4th, 2001.

Mike said: “The Labour run Knowsley Council is out of touch with reality and out of touch with the people of Prescot.

“It is time local politicians put the local community first, not party politics, and addressed the issues and concerns of local residents.

COUNCIL NEGLECT

“For example, Knowsley Park Lane has been left unmaintained by the Council and  the flags in Cross Street are in desperate need of repair

“Traffic issues and housing maintenance are also on the agenda, as well as residents concerns regarding the future of the Council’s housing stock .

“You know you can trust the Lib Dems to fight for the people of Prescot on all of these issues until they have been resolved.”

Mike is married to Frances, and both are  Lib Dem Prescot Town Councillors.  They have a daughter, Sarah, and have lived in Hope Street, Prescot, for more than 25 years.

The election in Prescot West is a two horse race between Mike Wynn, the Liberal Democrats candidate and Labour.  The Conservatives are a distant third and cannot win here.

LIB DEMS SET TO WIN

If you want to back a winner vote for Mike Wynn on January 4th.

TORIES SLAMMED

Lib Dem Leader Cllr Ian Smith has attacked the Tories for yet more opportunism by a political party desperate for votes.

Cllr Smith said: “The Tories did not field a candidate in the May elections, nor could they find candidates for the Prescot Town Council seats.

“But they had the cheek to call this by-election which is nothing short of an insult to the memory of the late Eric Byron.

“This is a classic tactic, taken straight out of Tory Leader Billy Bandwagon’s book, and we can expect to see more of the same when the General Election takes place.  But we are not fooled and I know the people of Prescot will not be fooled.”

TRAFFIC PROBLEMS
ON LIB DEMS AGENDA

Concerned residents living in the centre of Prescot have asked your local Lib Dems to raise the issue of increased traffic flow in the area and to ask for more residents-only  parking restrictions.

The opening of the new Tesco store and other developments have brought a much needed boost to the Town, as well as jobs for local people.  But the increase in the number of visitors has not been without its problems.

Your Lib Dem Councillors will be asking the officers at Knowsley Council’s Traffic Section to look into this problem and make sure they are aware of the local community’s concerns and that they are addressed as a matter of urgency.
