Only Liberal Democrats can win in Prescot East March 2000
LOCAL CAMPAIGNER
JOE McGARRY
CHOSEN
Prescot Liberal Democrats have chosen local campaigner Joe McGarry as their candidate for the 4th May Knowsley Council elections.  Joe is married to Joan and they live at 89 Hughes Avenue, Prescot.

Joe only needs another 92 votes to unseat Labour.

"Joe has a reputation for campaigning hard on local issues and for helping people.  He is an active and hard working member of Pride in Prescot and has a long family history in Prescot," says Councillor Eric Byron, Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Knowsley Council.

"Joe is the man Labour fear will end their domination of Prescot East ward," added Eric.

Joe has pledged to make the campaign for improvements to the High Hill estate a priority when he is elected on May 4th.

Joe will also want to see more traffic calming measures introduced to many roads in Prescot East including Kingsway, Shaw Lane, Hughes Avenue, Cross Lane, Sinclair Avenue and Thomas Drive.

Joe can be contacted on 430 7597, write to him at 89 Hughes Avenue  or you can send him an email to joe@knowsleysouthlibdems.co.uk

Prescot Liberal Democrats have launched a petition to save our local Post Offices within the Town and surrounding area.

If the Labour Government goes ahead with its plans to have pensions paid directly into bank accounts many local Post Offices could face the threat of closure.

Joe McGarry says: "We must support our local Post Offices and back this campaign to stop Labour ruining their livelihood.

"Local Post Offices have already have already started to make their protests, we need to help them and put as much pressure as possible on the Labour Government to stop their plans!"
